Organization at last............

Well at least for a little while, or until the kids come racing home, simply famished ransacking it, trying to avoid starvation by finding something to satisfy their little rumbling bellies. :)

Here is the before photo..........YIKERS!!!!

My pantry gets a little scary at times and it makes it hard to find the items I need to cook dinner or bake anything. So my morning project today was to organize it. I took a "before" photo so you could see just how spooky it was and some "after" photos so that we all really know that I completed the project and that it really was neat and tidy.....at least long enough for a photo shoot. : )

Also, by reorganizing, my recipe cookbooks are no longer above the cook stove. Just in case of a fire, I would still have all those great recipes, old and new.

My baking canisters are much easier access now too. I have decided that my cupboards are going to be my next task. They are in need of an extreme overhaul as well.

RED RIBBON WEEK

October 27th-31st

Motto:

"Ask me, see me, be me. I am drug free!

This week is Red Ribbon Week at the kids school, and there are lots of great things going on.

Monday: They were gave bracelets to wear all week.
Tuesday: Class posters will be judged, and one prize per grade will be handed out.
Wednesday: Students are going to sign the "I pledge to be Drug Free" certificates.
Thursday: Pencils for the students will be handed out.
Friday: Halloween Celebrations

For those of you that do not know the Red Ribbon Week, here is a little insight.

In 1985, agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena was kidnapped while working undercover in Mexico. After he and his pilot were found murdered, citizens in his home town of Calexico, CA donned red ribbons in his honor. The red ribbon became their symbol for prevention in order to reduce the demand of illegal drugs. Congressman Duncan Hunter abd teacher David Dhillon launched "Camarena Clubs" in CA high schools and in 1985, club members presented a proclamation to Nancy Reagan. The following year, parent/teacher organizations in CA, IL, and Virginia wore red ribbons during late October. In 1988, the first National Red Ribbon Week was proclaimed by the U.S. Congress and chaired by Nancy Reagan.

Our other puppy......Rowdy (actually, he is mine, shhh!!)

It dawned on me tonight as I was posting and looking at my blog, I neglected to post any pictures of my puppy, Rowdy. I feel terrible about this. So here he is.....Rowdy. I bought him in Idaho Falls on October 20th and he is a mama's boy and loves to be in the kitchen. He also loves to play with his new brother, Ruger. He is a great new addition to our family.
This is Rowdy
He is a very beautiful dog

He has Black and Tan coonhound and Walker in him, that's why he has a mask.

We have baby gates up to protect my carpet from the boys.
Here they are together trying to get up over the gate, which still seems to be an issue for Ruger, the youngest pup, but not for Rowdy. He has already figured it out.
Rowdy's 1st bath at his new home
He did so well, did not even try to jump out of the bathtub.

The Siren Song

Taylor had his 1st book report to do this year and he did a really great job. Other than waiting til the last minute to get it done. It has to be presented on Tuesday October 28Th, but at least he got it done. It took him a while to get started, but once he got the idea in his head, he was on a roll. He wanted to make a shadow box for his presentation part. Inside is Captain Jack Sparrow's ship, The Barnacle. It also has the mermaid that cast a spell on Jack's crew along with the sea monster that they had to fight off. Mind you, I did not read the book, but Taylor had some great information in his written report, and that is where I got my summary of what was going on in it. The book was Pirates of the Caribbean: The Siren Song. I am curious to see how his teacher grades him. I would definitely give him an A!!

Great Dedication

Taylor received this today at his Kempo Karate class.....he really enjoys this activity, and it has taught him some great disipline and respect. He has an awesome Sensei who has been a great instructor for him. Good job Taylor!! Keep up the hard work and you will be a blue belt before you know it.

The Field Trip

The field trip was to the Green River Valley museum in Big Piney. It was a very informative trip for the kids and the parents too. I learned alot about the county we live in. The museum has some really awesome artifacts.
Mrs. Walker and the 4th Graders in front of a really old truck.
Me helping the kids get to the right page in their notebooks for some note taking.

Learning about the Wardell Buffalo Trap, very interesting even for me.
Inside the one room school house, just like on Little House on the Prairie. The kids had some really great questions, but their main concern for the children in this era, was if they had RECESS.... the most important subject of school. Right???

Here they are in "JAIL" Not really, just visiting....this was the only part that made it through a fire that destroyed the town hall. They kept the prisoners in the jail while they moved it out to a different location while they rebuilt town hall, and then moved it back inside of the new building.

A fabulous old organ

Checking out the Old truck, very interesting
The kids were amazed at the prices of different items back in those days, but we had to remind them that was a lot of money then. The little one room cabin had its walls decorated in old Sears catalog pages. This was how the women spruced up the walls and kept the drafty holes covered.

COOKIES!!

My 1st batch of Volleyball Cookies
Shelbi's end of the VB season party is this evening after practice,
and I wanted to make something really fun. So, I decided to make
sugar cookies that were volleyballs, with their team name, and their colors.
COLTS in orange and green lines to resemble the ball. They were really fun and
not to hard to make.

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW AT THE TOURNAMENT, GIRLS!!!

TAKE IT ALL THE WAY!!

On the loose......

We see moose all the time here in Pinedale, especially as winter is just around the corner, but I do not always have my camera with me for such great photos.
This was on our way up to New Fork Lake this morning to go hunting. We were on the back road between our house and Cora. I don't care how many times I see these big and beautiful animals, I get just as excited each time.

Looking at his beard, he will be a very large bull in the next couple of years. He is just a small one right now.
